The Allen Koenigsberg Phonograph Collection
Lot 3211c:
Description
An exceptional assembly of early 20th-century advertising memorabilia featuring Nipper, the iconic mascot for the Victor Talking Machine Company. This lot features a pair of ceramic salt and pepper shakers, a rare painted cast-iron paperweight on a hollow metal base embossed with “Victor” and the 242 E. Battery Park, New York City address, and a molded chalkware figurine boasting the classic “Victor” lettering on its base, complete with its original cardboard box. These pieces beautifully represent the golden age of phonograph marketing and early American audio history. Condition is consistent with age and utility; the salt and pepper shakers show moderate paint wear, surface grime, a broken cork inside one base, and a missing cork in the other. The cast-iron dog displays significant paint loss and chipping across its body, while the chalkware statue exhibits minor surface smudging alongside a heavily worn and torn cardboard box. H 4″, W 4.25″, D 3.5″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
