The Columbia Graphophone Type N spring motor machine was introduced in 1895 and named the Bijou. It was the first Columbia machine with a fixed mandrel utilizing a flip down end gate. Both the gear cover and the banner decal on the front of the case bear the Washington D.C. address. In overall good condition with surprisingly good plating. The carriage moves freely but shows some stress cracks. The horn connection looks like it was crudely filed down at some point. Motor winds and runs but needs a belt. Mandrel spins freely. Comes with a #1 gutta percha reproducer and original crank in good condition. No horn or listening tubes included. The matching lid has a metal tag affixed under the bale for, INDIANA PHONOGRAPH CO.
