Description
Framed and matted under glass pen & ink sketch of Thomas A. Edison circa 1880 by Samuel D. Mott whose was one of the Edison Pioneers working alongside Edison in the early years of Edison’s career. Mott was an engineer and draftsman who did technical and patent drawings for Edison. Mott also held many of his own patents and later worked in the aviation field. The detailed sketch of Edison measures approx 6″ tall X 5″ wide and has Edison’s famous umbrella signature below the sketch. It is not known whether or not the signature is separate from the sketch or not. On the back of the frame is an older typed note that reads, “Pen and ink sketch of the great inventor Thos A. Edison, by Sam’l D. Mott. About 1880. n the bottom LH corner of the back is a small pencil notation that reads,” Edison’s patent artist. . Includes a copy of Mott’s newspaper obituary from 1930. Condition is VG with light browning around the matting. Frame measures 11″ wide, 14″ tall. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
