Description

This unissued capital stock certificate for Edison Phonographs, Ltd., incorporated under the laws of New Jersey, serves as an exceptional piece of early sound-reproduction history and early 20th-century financial scripophily. Representing the sweeping industrial empire of Thomas Edison, this unexecuted Form 525 document showcases a highly decorative border layout, a beautifully engraved central vignette of an American eagle with outstretched wings, and an eye-catching, vibrant gold-foil seal on the left side. The document remains attached to its original 11-inch tall ledger book spine remnant along the left edge, providing a unique look into how these financial registries were bound. The paper body exhibits minor edge handling wear, an expected horizontal storage crease through the center, light age-related toning, and two crisp punch holes located in the center-left margin, but it otherwise remains remarkably well-preserved with bright text fields and a clean reverse. H 8.5″, W 14″, D 0.01″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
