Description

Produced between 1935 and 1950, the Chinese Type 24—or “Chiang Kai-shek” rifle—was the first standardized domestic copy of the German Mauser Standardmodell to be mass-produced in Chinese arsenals. This seasoned 8mm Mauser veteran features a hardwood stock with distinctive boxed Chinese character cartouches branded into the buttstock, indicating official militia or arsenal issue. The receiver and bolt root are stamped with serial 0686, accompanied by a clear Chinese “plum blossom” proof mark on the bolt handle. The rifle exhibits heavy historical wear, including a dark patina on the metal, significant wood bruising, and a missing magazine floor plate. Mechanically, the action cocks and the bolt locks, but the trigger fails to release the firing pin and the bolt does not cycle fully to feed ammunition. H 5.5″, W 46.5″, D 2″SN 0686. C&R Eligible.
