Lot 1259:
Description
A rugged specimen of Italian craftsmanship, this Model 91/24 Carbine represents a fascinating era of military history. This purpose-built carbine was manufactured at the Brescia arsenal, as clearly indicated by the “BRESCIA” stamp on the barrel facet. The receiver bears a crisp 1917 date and the specific serial number AM 8142. Fashioned from a solid wood stock and blued steel, it features the iconic en-bloc clip-fed magazine and a rear sight graduated from 6 to 15. Notable markings include the “BL” and “FP” inspection stamps on the bolt and a faint “DP” cartouche on the buttstock. The rifle is in fair to good service-used condition; the wood shows evidence of old depressions being filled in, and the sling hardware has been removed. The bayonet lug remains present but has been ground down, and the metal components exhibit thinning bluing with patches of oxidation. The 17″ barrel features a bore that is dark but retains strong rifling. H 5.5″, L 36.5″, D 3″ Please see photos for overall condition. S/N AM8142 C&R Eligible.
