Description

This Japanese Type 38 Arisaka training rifle, likely dating from the mid-20th century, features the characteristic long-form stock and bolt-action design utilized for military drill and instruction. The stock displays a prominent rectangular “Kosei” (??) cartouche, indicating its association with a specific youth or training organization, and is further marked with a stamped “8” on the opposing side of the buttstock. Constructed with a wooden stock and steel barrel, this specimen features a smoothbore barrel and was chambered for 6.5mm blank cartridges only. The bolt features a distinctive knurled safety knob and is marked with the number “27,” while the rear ladder sight remains intact. The piece is in good vintage condition, showing expected handling wear, surface oxidation on the metal components, and various scuffs or indentations on the wood consistent with age and drill use; notably, the receiver is without a dust cover. H 4.25″, W 50″, D 3.5″. Please see photos for overall condition. NSN. C&R Eligible.
