Description
This is a classic American lever-action brush gun, a Marlin Model 336 chambered in the venerable .30-30 Winchester. This particular piece features the highly desirable “JM” proof mark on the barrel, signifying it was manufactured by the original Marlin Firearms Co. in North Haven, Connecticut. It boasts a Micro-Groove barrel and the signature gold-plated trigger. The walnut stock and forend show a warm grain, paired with the iconic side-ejection receiver. Based on the serial number 24043687, and using the Marlin subtraction date code (100 – 24), this rifle was manufactured in 1976. As it is now 2026, this firearm is 50 years old and qualifies for Curio & Relic (C&R) eligibility. The firearm is in good overall condition, showing some honest thinning and wear on the receiver’s finish and light handling marks on the wood; the bore shows some pitting but retains strong rifling and would benefit from a thorough cleaning.
