Description
Includes a small round celluloid covered hand crank music box with a young boy and girl on the top and a paper litho label with a young girl playing the piano in the center and ABC lesson around the edge. Hand written in ink on the bottom is Gasparone Waltz which was a popular tune in the late 1880’s. It comes with the original box and lid A hand written note inside states, “Irma Miriam From Uncle Hiram Toder 1889” And on the reverse Mannsville. There is pencil writing on the box with the most easily readable inside the lid, “From Uncle Hiram D Yoder December 1889”. The music box is in VG original condition and plays well when cranked. It measures 3″in diameter and 1.25″ tall not including the crank. Also included in this lot is a Depression era child’s toy, The Cackling Hen. It is a simple cardboard tube covered in color litho of chickens, ducks, and rabbits. A small metal crank handle is turned and the chicken clucks and squawks. Marked Pat 1936on the bottom. It is missing the small tin litho hen that was glued to the top. In good original working condition. Measures 2.25″ in diameter,3.5″ tall.
