The Frank Rider Collection - Spring Classic Part 1 - Day 2
Lot 1290:
Description
This exceptional collection is headlined by a decorative tree automaton featuring a bird, with its base uniquely crafted from wood salvaged from the legendary 1947 Hughes H-4 Hercules, famously known as the “Spruce Goose.” The base features a stamped provenance from the 1985 Music Box Society International (MBSI) Annual Meeting, stating that the wood is excess construction material donated to the West Coast Chapter for use as table favors. This piece represents a rare intersection of mechanical artistry and aviation history. The collection is further rounded out by a delightful array of vintage miniatures: an organ grinder monkey figure, a portable cart music player, a jukebox trinket, a classical gramophone music box, and a charming figurine of a man with his dog and cart. These items display light cosmetic wear appropriate for their age, with surfaces remaining clean and visually appealing. H 11″, W 4″, D 4″. Please see photos for condition.
