Description
This remarkable piece of military optics is a German Flakvisier 20, a sophisticated gunsight used primarily with the 2cm Flak 30 or 38 cannons during World War II. The unit features a complex internal prism system and is constructed from heavy cast metal with its original dark ordnance finish and traces of red primer. Notable markings include “Flak. Z.F. 20E 6fach 8,8/18-36u37″ and graduated adjustment scales for lead and elevation. The internal glass is relatively intact. The exterior shows significant service-related wear, surface oxidation, and paint loss consistent with field use. Painted “1224” on base surface. It is an incomplete sight, missing elements. H 9.5″, W 7″, D 6”. In original wooden carrying case. Dual latch enclosure. Internal canvas strap for lid opening. Stenciled on lid “Halter f.” and “Rbl F. Flak” in white. Some cracks in surface, solid overall. Partial eagle inspection stamp interior of lid. A rare find on its own! 12”x10”x8”. Please see photos.
