Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1479:
Description
This exquisite piece of Chinese silk embroidery, likely dating from the mid-20th century, captures the “Baxian” or elegant aesthetic of traditional bird-and-flower painting. The work features two songbirds perched upon a weathered rockery, surrounded by blooming narcissus and autumn leaves, symbolizing longevity and harmony. The embroidery is executed with fine silk threads on a cream-colored ground, showcased within an elaborate dark wood frame that features an intricate, open-work “fretwork” or “lattice” inner border characteristic of Oriental screen design. The calligraphy and red cinnabar-style seal add a final touch of scholar-artistic authenticity. The piece is in good vintage condition, showing some light age-related toning to the silk ground and minor surface scuffs to the wooden frame’s finish, consistent with age. Dimensions: 30″x41″x1.5″. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
