Hollywood Blvd Cinema Memorabilia
Lot 1473:
Description
This exquisite piece of Chinese textile art features a pair of swallows perched atop a weathered rock, accompanied by blossoming pink peonies—a classic symbol of prosperity and romance. The work is executed in fine silk thread on a cream silk ground, characterized by the delicate “su” style of embroidery. It is housed in a distinctive Mid-Century Modern wooden frame with intricate “ice-ray” or fretwork spandrels at the corners, likely produced in the 1950s or 60s for the export market. The piece includes black ink calligraphy and a red cinnabar seal, though the specific artisan remains unidentified. The embroidery remains vibrant with no visible pulls, though the silk backing shows light foxing and minor staining near the bottom edge. The wooden frame has some light surface scuffs consistent with age. Dimensions: 30″x41″x1.5″. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal.
