Note: Pickup/Transport required. Contacts available post auction. This striking pair of floor-standing vessels represents a quintessential example of mid-to-late 20th-century Chinoiserie decor, designed to command attention in a grand foyer, palace hotel, or theater setting. Each vase features a deep cinnabar-red textured finish, dramatically accented by a large, high-relief gilded dragon that coils around the body. This four-clawed dragon is depicted in the traditional “chasing the flaming pearl” motif—a symbol of the tireless pursuit of wisdom and spiritual energy—with its talons grasping a central “pearl” medallion. The neck and base of each are further embellished with classic Greek key (meander) and lotus petal borders in a matching gold tone, symbolizing eternal life and unity. Topped with faux cycad or palm sprigs, the pair reflects the opulent, eclectic style often found in classic cinema palaces. Constructed likely from a heavy resin or composite material to support the intricate sculptural elements, they remain in good vintage condition with some expected surface dust in the crevices of the dragons’ scales, minor scuffing to the red finish near the bases, and light wear to the gilt highlights. H 70″, W 20″, D 20″. Please use photos to judge condition and bid accordingly. Please note: Buyer is responsible for removal. From the Hollywood Blvd. Cinemas Collection.
