Description
This impressive high-relief wall plaque features a classic “Long” dragon in a dynamic serpentine pose, clutching the “flaming pearl” of wisdom against a textured cinnabar-red ground. The piece is a fine example of mid-to-late 20th-century Chinoiserie decor, likely constructed from a heavy molded composite or resin to allow for such dramatic three-dimensional depth. The intricate scaling and stylized ruyi clouds are finished in a weathered gold gilt, housed within a scalloped, black-lacquered frame that provides a sharp, formal contrast. The item presents in excellent vintage condition with only minor surface dust in the deep recesses and very light edge wear to the gilt finish. H 19″, W 19″, D 3″.
