Description

Excellent vintage taxidermy mount of a young American Black Bear cub (Ursus americanus), likely dating to the mid-20th century. The quality suggests a capable taxidermist, capturing the bear in a walking or alert pose on a flat, natural-edge wood base . The bear features its characteristic shaggy black coat, with some brownish sun-bleaching or natural variation visible on the back and muzzle, which is typical for older pieces. The mount is in good, stable vintage condition overall, with the fur generally well-preserved. There is visible wear and drying to the leather/taxidermy around the muzzle and eyes, which show minor age-related cracking and separation from the form, adding to its rustic appeal. The wooden base is weathered and worn with a hole drilled near the center, presumably for mounting or hanging. The mount presents as an authentic, sportsman’s trophy piece with a great cabin or lodge aesthetic. H 28″, W 12″, D 38″. From the Western display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
