Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1401:
Description
Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Annie Oakley This is an exceptional piece of Western Americana, a vibrant reproduction canvas poster advertising “BUFFALO BILL’S WILD WEST CONGRESS, ROUGH RIDERS OF THE WORLD,” prominently featuring “MISS ANNIE OAKLEY, THE PEERLESS LADY WING-SHOT.” The imagery is characteristic of late 19th-century circus and wild west show lithographs, capturing the era’s sensationalism and hero-worship. The poster is mounted on a wooden stretcher frame and is uniquely finished with a thick, twisted rope trim surrounding the entire edge, suggesting a rustic or lodge-style presentation. The canvas itself has a distressed, aged patina designed to look like a vintage, sepia-toned artifact. The overall condition is excellent, consistent with a modern, intentional reproduction that has been well-cared-for, showing no significant tears, scuffs, or major fading beyond the applied aging effect. The wooden frame on the reverse is clean and structurally sound, secured with staples at the corners, and features a small printed label on the right side. H 31.5″, W 21″ From the Western display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
