Description

Lot of gold smelting accessories that were essential items for any prospectors or refiner of the mid to late 19th century.
1. A classic, two-tone stoneware, shoulder jug features a buff-colored base and a deep, rich Albany Slip brown glaze on the shoulder and neck. Stamped on the front, in blue, is the word “MERCURY”. The base is clearly stamped “U S A”. The jug is in excellent condition with bright glaze, clear stamping, and no chips or cracks. H 4.75”, W 3”.
2. A conical, coarse, refractory crucible made from high-temperature clay. This crucible shows signs of use, chips and discoloration consistent with its function in a high-heat environment. H 3.75”, W3”.
3. Hand forged, mini copper pitcher with interior tin coating. The pitcher features a slightly tapered body, a wide rim with a spout, and a sturdy, applied strap handle, which suggests a 19th-century Americana style. It shows signs of use and has a dark, dull patina .H 2”, W 2.75”.
4. DIXON Clear Glass Miniature Oil Lamp dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The lamp is constructed with a rounded glass font and a metal collar and wick-holder (burner), which includes a wick adjustment wheel and a small snuffer cap attached by a chain. Embossed on the base of the glass is “DIXON”. The glass is clear and has not chips or cracks. The metal burner shows a dark patina and signs of oxidation. The wick-adjustment mechanism is intact and functional. H 3.5”, W 2.62”
