Description
Starr Army Percussion Revolver, Model 1858. This double action, .44 caliber revolver features a 6-shot percussion cylinder and a 6-inch barrel. It bears the marking “STARR.ARMS.Co NEW YORK” on the left side of the frame. On the right side of the frame displays the inscription “STARR’S PATENT JAN.15.1856”. The serial number “4655” is inscribed on the cylinder and frame under the rammer. The metal parts show a dark grey-brown patina across all metal surfaces. There is moderate pitting and surface oxidation present, particularly on the cylinder and barrel. The wooden grip shows wear, dings, and a well-worn finish, but are solid. The bore is clean, and the rifling groves are prominent. The action and trigger are smooth and tight. The overall length of the revolver is 11.5-inches.
