Description
Winchester Model 1894 rifle (also known as the Model 94) with serial number “131661”. The Model 94 is the first commercial American rifle built to be used with smokeless powder and became one of the most famous and popular hunting rifles of all time. This is lever-action, repeating rifle, caliber 38-55 with a tubular magazine. The butt stock and forward stock are made of walnut, which is in good condition, showing handling marks and small nicks. The receiver, butt plate, lever, and barrel exhibit a factory finish. The upper tang is stamped with “Model 1894 -Winchester PAT AUG 21 1894”. The 26-inch octagonal barrel displays the markings “Manufactured By The Winchester repeating Arms Co. New Haven. CONN, U.S.A” at the top of the barrel. The barrel also displays the caliber markings “38-55” near the receiver. There is a rear adjustable sight and a fixed front sight that displays the markings “PAT NOV. 4. 1902”. The bore is clean and has good rifling. The lever action and hammer move smoothly and tight. All markings are clean and crisp. The overall length of the rifle is 44.5 inches.
