Description

Arts and Crafts Oak Dresser This is a quintessential piece of Arts and Crafts movement furniture, likely from the early 20th century. The chest of drawers, or dresser, exhibits the clean, rectilinear lines and honest construction characteristic of the Mission style. It is crafted from quarter-sawn oak, visible by the striking medullary ray graining on the drawer fronts, side panels, and top, and features a warm, medium-dark brown finish. The design includes two smaller drawers over two full-width drawers, all with original, hammered copper or dark patinated metal drop pulls and corresponding key escutcheons, emphasizing the handmade aesthetic. The dresser stands on four sturdy, straight legs, each fitted with what appear to be original wooden wheel swivel casters. The overall condition is good vintage, commensurate with age and use. There are visible scratches and wear on the top surface, typical for a piece used over a century, particularly around the edges and center. The finish shows some fading and variations in tone. The general structural integrity is solid. H 36″, W 40″, D 20″ NOTE: Pickup/transport required. Contacts available post auction.
