Old West & Native American Auction
Lot 1257:
Description
A beautiful, highly desirable Arts and Crafts (or Mission) style library table or occasional table, constructed from quartered oak. The style is unmistakable, featuring a heavy, curved top with a slight overhang, a functional shelf stretcher between the legs, and the signature exposed tenon construction with vertical slat cut-outs on the ends—hallmarks of the American Arts and Crafts movement circa 1900-1920. The underside of the table bears the clear, identifying stamp of LIMBERTS ART AND CRAFTS, Grand Rapids and Holland. Limberts was a noteworthy manufacturer during the period, and pieces with the original mark are particularly sought after by collectors. The overall condition is good antique condition; the wood shows a rich, dark patina and grain typical of age and use. There are minor surface scratches and faint rings on the top consistent with a century of use, and a few small flakes of veneer loss near the stamp, but no major structural damage is apparent. The finish appears original, contributing to its collector value. H 29.5″, W 48″, D 30″.
