Description

This is a beautiful example of a Mission or Arts and Crafts-style dresser with a mirror, likely dating to the early 20th century (1900-1920s). The piece is constructed of Quarter Sawn Oak, known for its distinct ray fleck pattern, and features a deep, reddish-brown stain. The maker is clearly identified by the impressed mark on the drawer side as the Northern Furniture Company, Sheboygan, WIS. The design is classic for the period, featuring clean lines, simple drawer pulls (wooden knobs), and visible joinery, though the back panel appears to be a fiberboard replacement or upgrade, secured with small rings. The top bank has two smaller drawers, with three full-width drawers below. There is a keyhole on the top drawer, suggesting it was originally lockable, and a sliding lock mechanism (possibly for a jewelry tray) is visible inside the drawer opening. The condition is commensurate with age and use; there is general wear, some fading/darkening of the finish, and minor cosmetic scratches on the surfaces. The hardware is complete, and the piece sits on small casters, which is a common feature for the era. The mirror is attached by two side uprights with an arched top frame.
