Description

This is a stunning example of a fluted projectile point, likely a spear point or knife blade from the Paleo-Indian or Early Archaic period, exhibiting classic characteristics of a Plainview or perhaps a heavily reworked Clovis/Midland style due to its lanceolate shape and fine parallel to random flaking. The material appears to be a high-quality, tan/brown chert or flint, chosen by the prehistoric knapper for its superior conchoidal fracture. The workmanship is exceptional, showcasing broad, controlled percussion flakes followed by detailed pressure flaking to shape the edges. A catalog number “23 C 7″ is inked on the lower portion of the piece on one side, which is a common practice for serious collectors and field researchers to track provenance. The condition is excellent, with sharp edges consistent with its original intended use, displaying only minor edge wear and no major chips or breaks. H 6.5″, W 1.5” From the Native American display in Donley’s Wild West Town.
