Lot 1118:
Description
This hand carved Hopi Kachina doll circa 1910, is a representation, likely of the Hey Heya Kachina. Carved from wood, it features traditional pigments and details. The Kachina’s head is cylindrical and painted with a yellow face, black markings, and adorned with a feathered headdress featuring stylized feathers. The body is simple with a white kilt-like garment with painted red leggings and brown boots. Feathers adorn the doll on its mouth and are also attached to the figures elbows and headdress. The base is absent which is common for older kachina dolls. There is a white wooden square on one of the feet, likely an old securing mount. Overall in good condition. Dimensions: 18”x7.75”x4.5”.
