Description
Cast iron trade acts circa 19th century, features dark stained wood handle. Accent is made of cast iron simple functional design with etched decoration near base of blade. Wooden handle possibly Hickory or similar hardwood stained in a dark color showing age and use. The handle is secured to the axe with a tight fit utilizing metal wrapped around the handle and pinning the head to the handle. Partial stamped letters visible in metal shim. Running along the handle just below the axe head there’s a 4.5 inch copper strip affixed to the handle itself. Axe is reinforced at both ends with metal rings. Overall, a nice piece. Dimensions: 25.5” long, 4.5” blade length, 3.5” blade height. See photos.
