Description
Paiute beaded basket likely dates to early to mid-20th century. These baskets are distinctive for their tight weave and sheath of seed glass beads covering the exterior. The basket features a polychrome design with geometric patterns including what appears to be stylized geometric/floral motifs of red white and black along with a significant presence of blue and green. These baskets were often made for sale or as gifts and are considered a relatively newer form of basket weaving. The base of the basket is a coiled weave common amongst Paiute basket makers. Overall condition is excellent with no loss of beads or fibers. Dimensions: 3.25” x 1.75”. Please see photos.
