Description
This is a Penobscot basket circa 1940s crafted from ash splints and sweet grass. It features a round shape with a fitted lid, adorned with distinctive porcupine or curly cue weave pattern on both the lid and around the central portion of the body. It has woven handles as part of the body. On the interior are two strips that are red in color. The lid also has two ring strips of red dyed material. Affixed to the basket is a metal rimmed red tag with “Penobscot Maine” written on it. Dimensions: 10” diameter x 7” tall. Base approximately 7” diameter. See photos.
