Description

This is a fantastic piece of American industrial history, a heavy-duty general store counter or work table manufactured by the well-regarded Bromann Bros. of Chicago. Known for their robust butcher blocks and fixtures, Bromann Bros. built this piece to last from solid oak. It features a thick plank top, wood frame, white Vitrolite glass panels on front and a versatile open-shelf back, making it an ideal candidate for re purposing as a kitchen island, sideboard, or retail display. The counter has 4″ wood legs for easy cleaning underneath. The front and back corners of the right hand side of the top have been rounded off, most likely by the original store owner who was tired of stabbing himself in the hip every time he went behind the counter. The wood has been refinished at some time with numerous scratches, dings, and stains that tell the story of its working life. Measure 96″ wide, 24″ deep, 32″ tall.
