Description

This is a fantastic example of a mid-century electric advertising wall clock, a staple of general stores and farm supply shops in the 1940s and 1950s. This piece prominently features the branding for Wayne Feeds, manufactured by Allied Mills, Inc. The face is a classic design, featuring large black Arabic numerals against a white background, with the prominent “WAYNE FEEDS” logo in a striking orange and white color block. The hands are black, with the second hand being red-tipped, adding great contrast. The clock mechanism and illumination components are housed in a simple, round spun aluminum or sheet metal case. The rear of the case shows two access ports for the light bulbs, covered by rotating metal plates. The front dial is protected by a clear convex glass. Markings on the lower edge of the face indicate the manufacturer as Pam Clock Co., Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y., U.S.A. Condition is good for its age; the metal case shows typical light surface scratching and wear consistent with use and age. The face itself is bright, though it has notable paint loss on the face, visible from the 1:30 to 4:00 positions and also near the center hands. The electrical cord appears original, showing expected darkening and coiling. The illumination component, including one working bulb, is presenta and lights up. The clock mechanism will need to be serviced and does not work. H 14.5″, W 14.5″, D 4″
