October Fall Classic
Lot 1278:
Description
This impressive monumental-scale bronze sculpture captures a horse mid-rear, a pose of dramatic power and classical equestrian elegance. The material appears to be cast bronze with a dark, almost black patina, showcasing fine detail in the mane, tail, and musculature. While the style is reminiscent of 19th-century bronze foundries that specialized in animal subjects, the casting technique suggests a more modern, possibly late 20th or 21st-century garden or estate statue. The sheer size of this piece means it’s designed to be a significant focal point in a garden, courtyard, or large interior space. The condition is good overall, exhibiting the typical weathering and verdigris streaking (white mineral deposits) expected from outdoor exposure, particularly running down the body and legs. There are no obvious signs of cracks or breaks. H 58″, W 13″, D 31″. See photos.
