Description

Aero Car Hood Ornaments Lot This is a fantastic grouping of vintage automotive hood ornaments, primarily from the late 1940s and early 1950s, representing the post-war “Jet Age” styling so popular in American car design. The lot includes a beautiful ram’s head, instantly recognizable as a Dodge ornament from the 1951-53 era, a sleek jet-style ornament likely from a 1953-54 Ford Victoria Sunliner, and two stylized bird or swan ornaments with large, distinctive feathered wings—one strongly resembling the classic Packard “Cormorant” or a similar high-end motif, and the other, a simpler jet-like design from a 1951 Mercury. These pieces are typically chrome-plated pot metal. Overall condition is consistent with age and use; the chrome shows pitting, light corrosion, scuffs, and some loss of plating, particularly on the mounting bases and crevices. Some exhibit surface rust on the mounting bolts/hardware. They are all salvageable for restoration or excellent as-is display pieces. Dimensions: 1940’s Packard: 6.5″ long, 7.5″ tall, 5″ wide. 1951 Mercury: 13″ long, 4.25″ wide, 2″ tall. 1951-53 Dodge: 11″ long, 3.5″ tall, 5.25″ wide. 1953-54 Ford Victoria Sunliner jet: 9.5″ long, 6″ wide, 2.5 tall.
