Description

An exceptional collection piece for any aviation enthusiast, centered around Brigadier General Robin Olds (1922-2007), a “triple ace” with 17 kills in WWII and Vietnam. The lot includes a stunning black and white print of a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, the aircraft he famously flew in Vietnam (with “HC” tail code), which is hand-signed by Olds and features additional inscription detailing his service (e.g., “Triple Ace, MiGs over Hanoi”). Also included are a personalized, signed letter from Olds dated 12/10/65 on Air Force letterhead, a signed envelope, and a biographical card describing his service. The materials are paper, ink, and pencil. All items are in very good condition; the print has been rolled or slightly creased and is under a clear protective plastic, and the letters show typical age-toning and folding creases but no major tears or staining. The collection is highly desirable due to the rarity of Olds’s signature, particularly across multiple documents, and the direct connection to his legendary F-4 career. Part of the John Bannister Collection. H 11″, W 17″. See photos.
