The John Bannister Collection - D-Day and Militaria
Lot 1087:
Description
This collection is a must-have for the serious aviation enthusiast, centered on the legendary ace Colonel Clarence E. “Bud” Anderson and his iconic P-51 Mustangs. The lot includes four striking black-and-white art prints, likely reproductions of original pencil or ink drawings, each depicting a different view or version of his WWII P-51, Old Crow. One print features a highly-detailed profile of the aircraft with D-Day invasion stripes, and another shows a top-down view. Accompanying the prints are several black-and-white photographs of Col. Anderson, including a famous shot of him sitting in the cockpit and others next to the Old Crow nose art, along with informational sheets or biographical printouts. The collection is presented on modern, bright white paper, suggesting they are a set of later-generation prints and reproductions rather than vintage originals. The overall condition of the papers and prints appears excellent, with sharp corners and clean surfaces, suggesting minimal handling and no visible tears, fading, or significant creasing. The items are currently resting on a large box top, which acts as a staging surface. Part of the John Bannister Collection. H 11″, W 17″. See photos.
