Model 1840 Musicians Sword. This example is cut down, either intentionally, or from a broken damaged sword. Its modification makes it an ideal fighting knife. Current blade length 8-1/4”. Stamped on the Ricasso: “U.S. / JH”. Between 1838 and 1862 there were six US Amory inspectors that had those very same initials. The opposite side of the Ricasso has obscured/faint: “Ames / Cabotville/1845”. The faux wire grip is loose, and dented. Dimensions: 14-3/4” x 4-1/2” x 1”.
