Description
A M1840 heavy cavalry saber, with scabbard, suspended from US belt w/buckle. The sword’s guard has been modified, removing a loop on the outer portion. The guard is stamped 11 and 13 on the pommel. It is loose. Handle is leather wrapped, with twisted wire wrap. Blade is unmarked, with blunted tip. Fairly clean with some rust spots. Scabbard missing throat, and base of scabbard is pinched closed. Suspended [8″ and 17″straps] from leather belt. Complete, approximately 35″ long with stamped 1860 brass buckle . Overall length of sword: 35.5″ x 4.5″ guard width, Total length in scabbard 38″.
