Civil War Auction
Lot 1103:
Description
Model M1851 belt buckle worn by U.S. Officers during the Indian Wars. Measuring 3″ wide by 2” tall. Stamped brass. Officer buckles had the wreath integral to the original casting/stamping. Central image of 13 stars with rays above and right-facing eagle below “E Pluribus Unum” banner on a pebbled background. An added pair of cloisonne US flags flank the eagle mounted just below its outstretched wings. Likely a post-service patriotic addition, which adds character. Overall condition is very good. This buckle was part of the Civil War and Indian War display at Donley’s Wild West Town Museum for 45 years.
