Description
Civil War Canister Shot Cannonballs and 20 rounds of three ring .69 cal Minie ball. Each of the canister shot are approximately between 1.4 and 1.6” diameter and between .36 and .64 lbs. One example [mounted on base] is dug from Charleston, S.C. A canister round was a thin-walled metal cylinder packed with musket balls, large lead or iron balls, and sawdust. Depending on bore diameter, typical Civil War canister shot was as small as .65 inch or as large as 2 inches. From the David Hopper collection. Please see pictures
