This is a single loop brass bugle with original artillery red cord and tassel. It is marked “3rd NJ LIGHT ARTILERY” below that is marker’s mark “STRATTON & FOOTE” over “MILITARY INSTRUMENTS” over “NEW YORK”. The condition shows much age and wear with many minor dings but no dents to mention. The mouth piece clamp key is missing. The bell has its shape but has dings around the inside of rim. (see pictures) and when standing horn bell down, there is very little wobble. The red cord and tassel show much age and has some modern matching red thread tack stitching to keep cord in place, The knot is very thread bare and worn down to dyed red wood base with tassels still maintaining good condition. Nice Civil War bugle.
