Description

This forage cap is almost 5″ standing at front. The dark blue body shows very little fading and a bit on random moth holes in places with very little moth tracks. The visor is very flat with no crazing. Top had some mark that pulled away the patent leather. The bottom had a card stock ex-museum tag glued to visor with name “F. Harris”. Also with a period green size sticker tag for size 7. Chinstrap is leather and shows age and wear and are attached to two matching Union eagle buttons. The brown leather sweatband is supple and has one tear to the back. Band was hand stitched and stitching is 100% intact. The lining appears to be black artificial silk with quilted bottom. The company “C” is held with one shank with wedge piece of leather which appears to have been there a very long time. Lining has some wear and breaking of material but is overall intact and stable. This is the most iconic hat of the Civil War and this could be for any serious collector of historian.
