Description
This M1851 belt and buckle set has buckle with 1 piece applied wreath. The buckle seems to be the like plate 664 from O’Donnell & Campbell book. It has rays coming out from all corners and eagle neck is more slender. It has benchmark 322 in corner and keeper has 455 benchmark. The belt and straps are the artificial “buff” leather made of some composite fuzzy material. It has 2 copper rivets securing the keeper and strap belt loops. The rest of the fittings are brass. The short hanger has one “half” break where strap meets the belt. The belt is very functional and material is very flexible. Overall condition shows much wear and age but still is good plus condition.
