Description
This cap has everything time can dish out and also has loads of character. The wool body has some stitched repairs to the front, light moth holes all around the hat but they don’t retract. It shows worn spots and Infantry bugle badge is held in place with only one prong. The thin neck button with “I” in shield show age and green verdigris. The chinstrap shows light crazing and brass buckle shows green verdigris buildup. The leather visor shows heat damage and scaring. The sweatband show much wear and age with some stitch repairs to hold it in place. The brown cotton material lining is mostly in threads with some very old glue to keep somewhat stable. The cardboard interior top stiffener is visible and the center on the lining is glued to it. Part of a US Quartermaster depot tag with still reads “U.S. Army” and size 7 3/8. The coarse burlap sweatband padding is present and visible. Glue has skillfully used to keep the sweatband attached to visor because the stitching broke away a long time age. For all this cap has gone through, it still displays very well with good form.
