Long Description: The projectile has been fired and placed back in a case (loose fit). The wasp-
waist projectile is closed by a white plastic ogive with the raised letter “W” indicating White Smoke.
The ogive is not completely seated, but can be if desired. Markings on the projectile are
“CARTRIDGE 40 MM; WHITE STAR; PARACHUTE; M583A1”. There is no headstamp on the cartridge
case. Printed in black on the side of the case is “LOW87K007-007”, “40 MM M-118; ACNZ-2-5-3-
72” and “MA-87F008-001”. 2) Item Description: 40x46mm elongated white star parachute cartridge.

Long Description: The straight-walled projectile is closed by a white plastic ogive (It has partially discolored to a tan color) with the raised letter “W” indicating White Smoke. Markings on the projectile are “CARTRIDGE 40 MM; WHITE STAR; PARACHUTE; M583”. There is no headstamp on the cartridge case. Printed in black on the side of the case is “LOW87K007-007”, “40 MM M-118; ACN-2-5-3-72” and “MA-87F008-001”.
