Description
This lot features four early 20th-century 10-inch Standard Disc Records pressed on acoustic shellac by the Standard Talking Machine Co. of Chicago, Illinois. Designed with the proprietary 9/16-inch center spindle holes for Standard phonographs, this group includes three double-sided discs and one single-sided disc with a blank reverse featuring a patent label. The black-labeled selections feature “American Eagle March” / “Yankee Patrol” by the Standard Band (No. A114), “Maple Leaf Rag” / “Jigs and Reel Medley” by Walter Mortenson (No. A228). A “Tammany Medley” (No. 3224) on a single sided disc. The unique green-labeled double-sided record reveals faint stamped titles on its paper cutouts: “Gems from ‘Faust’ Violin Solo” (A 229) and “Whistling Pete Banjo Solo” (A 329). Visually, the records exhibit typical surface wear, light scuffs, minor scratches, and age-related dust consistent with handling and storage, though they maintain a generally clean appearance with entirely legible labels.
