ONLINE ENCORE for the Koenigsberg Collection
Lot 1491:
Description
An exceptional piece of early recorded sound history, this Nicole Record (No. 2365) features the march “Manhattan Beach” performed by the British Imperial Military Band. Produced in London by the Nicole Record Company, Ltd. circa 1903–1906, these pioneering 78 RPM discs are highly prized by phonograph collectors for their unique manufacturing technique, utilizing a brown celluloid coating layered over a flexible, compressed cardboard or fiber core rather than traditional brittle shellac. The disc presents in VG condition, showing typical superficial scratches, minor scuffs, and handling marks consistent with its century-plus age, but it remains flat, unwarped, and entirely free of any visible structural cracks or edge chips. H 7″, W 7″, D 0.05″. Please see photos for condition. From the Allen Koenigsberg collection.
