Description
An excellent early 20th-century style phonograph collectible, this is an Electrophone Cylinder Record No. 8001 titled “Liver Story” as told by Thomas A. Edison. Produced as a modern “Everlasting” type replica (bearing a 1985 copyright on the lid) by the Electrophone Cylinder Record Company, this piece mimics the classic celluloid cylinders of the early sound era. The lot includes the cream-colored cylinder featuring a molded profile silhouette of Edison, cardboard storage container with a checkerboard-bordered label, and the printed lyric/transcript insert sheet documenting Edison’s humorous anecdote. The cylinder is composed of durable plastic/celluloid material and remains in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or detrimental damage; the outer cardboard tube displays minor edge wear and light fading consistent with gentle handling, and the paper insert shows light creasing.
