“Kangaroo Court ” Wooden Diorama, this massive multi-character diorama depicts a classic trial inside a saloon, an unofficial, mock court where the outcome has been predetermined, the rights of the accused are ignore, and the entire process is a parody of a legitimate judicial system, name is associated with Australian miners who arrived in large numbers and how the unofficial courts would “leap” to conclusions, court is conducted by people who have absolutely no legal jurisdiction or right to pass judgement, a complete cast of characters and a few hidden humorour details featuring a large brown dog facing a cowboy who is holding his hands up in an exaggerated defensive pose making it look like the dog is either the star witness or the actual criminal on trial, a potbelly stove, armed onlookers, a “Judge” at a table, the accused witness, kangaroo standing behind the cowboy, broom-wielding caretaker, brass spittoon, long-barreled frontier rifle, moonshine jugs and more!, artist carved “Kangaroo Court” and “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 36″ x 18″ x 7″
