Hand-Carved Wooden Folk Art – John Ringo, notorious outlaw, cowboy and gunfighter, died from a single gunshot wound to the temple which remains one of the most hotly debated mysteries in Western history, while the coroner officially ruled it a suicide, alternate theories persist: suicide due to depression and alcoholism, killed by Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday and the ambushed by Buckskin Frank Leslie for bragging rights, which theory is the most plausible explanation?, artist carved “VIT” in bottom, initials of a talented regional woodcarver that has deep roots in waterfowl decoy carving, the texture work on the clothing and boots strongly mimics the “feather texturing” techniques used by wildlife carvers to give wooden birds a realistic look before paint is applied, figurines have been in storage for 40 years, were going to be put on display at Donley’s Wild West Town, minor scuffs, good condition, 12″ x 6 1/2″
