Antique Violet Ray Electrotherapy Quack Device, manufactured by Halliwell-Shelton Electric Corp, popular from the 1910s to 1930s, marketed as cure-all medical and cosmetic devices claiming they could treat an wide variety of ailments, skin disorders, hair loss, headaches, arthritis and internal pain, by the 1950s, the FDA cracked down on making fraudulent medical claims, they confiscated shipping crates and issued formal orders forcing the company to completely cease advertising, Halliwell-Shelton abandoned “home medical” market and started manufacturing beauty salon equipment, to use follow a specific ritual to apply high-frequency current to the body, when plugged in, high-frequency electricity ionizes the gas in the vacuum tubes, causing it to glow with a violet light and emit small sparks along the localized ozone includes the rake/comb electrode, the condenser/cautery electrode and the mushroom electrode, Bakelite primary wand and wiring are intact, instruction manual is missing, untested, in as-found condition, see photos. 12 1/4″ x 7 1/4″ x 4″
