Description

This exceptional collection offers an invaluable research library for the early recorded sound enthusiast, exploring early 20th-century audio innovations from the United States, Canada, and Great Britain. The lot includes Edison Disc Artists & Records 1910-1929 by Raymond R. Wile (APM Press, Brooklyn, NY, 1985); Volumes 1 and 2 of The Federal Cylinder Project: A Guide to Field Cylinder Collections in Federal Agencies (American Folklife Center, Library of Congress, 1984/1985); Roll Back the Years: History of Canadian Recorded Sound and Its Legacy by Edward B. Moogk (National Library of Canada, Ottawa, 1975); Phonograph Cylinder Histories 1 by Frank Andrews (CLPGS, June 2011 First Edition) with its accompanying audio CD; and a 1973 Allen Koenigsberg facsimile reprint of a classic yellow Edison Phonographs catalogue. Of particular significance, the Edison Disc volume is hand-marked as “Prototype Hardbound Copy 2/3″ and signed by editor Ronald Dethlefson. Overall, the interiors are clean with tight bindings, though Roll Back the Years retains its heavily torn and worn original dust jacket, and the softcover booklets show minor edge wear and light handling soil. Stacked: H 4.5″, W 11.5″, D 9”. See photos for condition.
